Tottenham & Bennett designed the structure to this new house in Blackheath. Interesting features include the basement, which was built using reinforced blockwork walls, and the circular tower for the spiral staircase at the front of the building. The soil in the area is gravel which tends to collapse into steep-sided excavations and the basement construction method therefore needed careful consideration to minimise risk to adjacent properties.
